East Gate car park is directly in front of the building, with a drop-off area and three Blue Badge spaces outside the main door. Additional Blue Badge spaces and general parking are available nearby.

There are two ways to reach the front of the building from the car park:
Using the central steps - three steps with a central handrail and tactile surface on the top step.
The steps are 1340 mm wide either side of the handrail.
Step 1 is 140mm deep and steps 2 and 3 are 150 mm deep.
There is a bench to the left at the top of the steps.

Through a gate (1085 mm wide) to the right, leading to a gently sloping paved courtyard up to the front entrance.

Entering the building
The main entrance has double wooden doors.
With a single door open the entrance is 940 mm wide, the push bar to open the door reduces the central area to 875 mm wide.
With both doors open the entrance is 1770 mm at the narrowest point.
When the building is open to the public one, or both of the doors will be open.

There is an intercom button to the right of the door should you require staff assistance, press and release the button. It makes a buzzing sound.

Once you enter the front door you can either turn left or right, though a single door 870 mm at narrowest point wide which opens towards you. If you are coming to an event the door to the left is usually open with a staff member nearby to greet you. If you find it closed and need help to open it, please ring the intercom button and a staff member will open it for you.

Activity spaces
When you first enter the building you are in the foyer / refreshment area where you can help yourself to tea and coffee – you can make drinks yourself or staff are on hand to help or make one for you.
There is one more door, the same as into the refreshment area, that takes you into the main workshop space.
This is a big open space with movable tables and chairs. A mixture of chairs with high and low backs and with and without arms are available.
There are three smaller breakout rooms off the main space including one which is a low-lit quiet space with armchairs.
All areas are step free throughout with level flooring.
The main space is bright and open with natural light.
We have portable hearing loop systems which can be used in any of the activity areas.

Assistance Dogs
Assistance Dogs and Emotional Support Dogs are welcome in all public areas of the building and community garden.
Please see the Assistance Dog Policy for details.
Toilet facilities
We have three gender neutral toilets, all are single cubicles.
All are in the foyer area, one to left, and two to the right.
The accessible toilet is the largest and is located to the right in the foyer area. It has grab rails to assist left and right transfer from a wheelchair, and toilet seat in a contrasting colour to the background surfaces and an emergency pull cord.
Baby changing facilities are available in the accessible toilet.
Emergency Evacuation
The primary evacuation route is through the main front entrance. If this is unavailable there is an alternative exit through the rear of the building to the right-hand side of the main space.
There are three steps down from the main activity space. These steps can also turn into a flat platform that lowers down. This will be controlled by a staff member.
Visitors who may need assistance should complete a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) with a staff member on arrival.
