Past Projects - 2019 Year
Create & Tell
In 2019 we ran a bilingual storytelling creative project with Welsh broadcaster and author, Alun Gibbard and PSU’s Eleanor Shaw. The sessions introduced people on how to bring in Welsh dialogue into their English writing and storytelling. A unique course at that time which shared some ideas and practical skills on bringing in Welsh into storytelling in English.
Community Storytelling
We were commissioned by Carmarthenshire County Council to create a story gathering project to support our local community to have a voice.
We welcomed parents, families and friends of the Bigyn Community & Morfa community to take part in a series of conversations to talk about how they felt about their community. We discussed themes around childhood in Carmarthenshire, how Carmarthenshire has changed, past memories and stories, connection and communities from the past and right now.
Llanelli Voices
PSU working with curator Michel Laugharne Perrott ran an intergenerational storytelling and visual arts programme in Llanelli.
In the Summer of 2019, free workshops were held with young and older people in our community. The workshops were a mixture of traditional arts and creativity as well as using rap, spoken word, sand and street art, working with artists Phil Okwedy, Rufus Mufsa, Mandy Lane, Mark Folds, Marc Treanor, Mr Plob and David Pitt. The artwork and stories were exhibited at Ffwrnes Gallery in August and September 2019.
Then project was supported by Carmarthenshire County Council, Llanelli Town Council, Thearau Sir Gar and Arts Council of Wales.
Swansea Voices
Swansea Voices was commissioned by The Live Well and Age Well department of Swansea City and County Council.
Swansea Voices was a digital storytelling project to bring together the young and older people of Swansea. To create an understanding of Dementia and to explore issues around being young and old, to learn from each other and to celebrate those moments through finding and telling our stories.
The first part of the project was led by storytellers David Pitt & Eleanor Shaw who worked with Bishopston Primary and Newton Court Care Home in March 2019 on a series of shadow puppetry workshops to develop communication and create a sense of togetherness.
The second part of the project was led by storytellers Phil Ockwedy & Eleanor Shaw working with Pontardulais Comprehensive & The Hollies Care Home on a series of life story workshops to create a better understanding of what it feels like to be young and old.
