Beyond the Border Storytelling Festival 2023
For the second year running, People Speak Up was a field at the storytelling festival in Llandeilo. We programme stories from guest artists as well as created a platform for our participants and festival attendees to share stories and music from Pod Siarad.
Hear We Are
Hear We Are was a Deaf-led project by Jonny Cotsen in partnership with Chapter Arts Centre. It explored the perspectives of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people working in the arts, and how they gain access and support towards creative production. The programme aimed to reimagine relationships in the arts sector, placing Deaf and Hard of Hearing people at the heart of cultural production.
In September 2022, Deaf Creative Mentor, Cheryl Beer, worked with nine Deaf creatives from across Wales to record their life stories, hold conversations and understand how Deafness has impacted their arts careers. She also explored the creative aspirations of Deaf artists and their hopes for a more equitable future:
It was a moving experience to hear the life stories of fellow Deaf creatives, the challenges they have overcome, the ways in which the arts and creativity have, in many ways, been a saving grace, but mostly, I was inspired by the incredible contributions that Deaf creatives are making, not just to the arts community, but towards a greater good for everyone.

Carmarthen Conversation on Social Investment

October Street Play and Tyisha Autumn Event
Street Play free family activities were held across the county, keeping little ones and families entertained and away from the screens during the October half term holiday.
Once a year we join the Transforming Tyisha team to help deliver the autumn October event for families. We take our Street Play programme to Tyisha and make it Halloween and crafty.

They worked with facilitators, Rich Thair (Music Producer, Drummer, DJ) and Duke Al (Poet, Spoken Word Artist, Rapper) to produce their own tracks with vocals and instruments. Please click on the links and listen to the creations by our young people.
